April '09 - Publisher axes forthcoming Kofmel book
Controversial publisher Imprint Academic, who had been criticized for publishing a book by Erich Kofmel whilst he was on the run from the police & wanted for fraud, have announced that they have scrapped plans to publish Kofmel's forthcoming book Anti-Liberalism & Political Theology, which was due to be published on 1st August 2009.
Anthony Freeman, the Managing Editor of Imprint Academic describes himself as ..."(the Sussex vicar sacked when he decided to publish God In Us, SCM Press, 1993), who claims he never made a conscious decision in his life!" had previously stated that "I have no wish for the reputation of Imprint Academic to be damaged by its association with Erich Kofmel, but neither do I intend to put myself in the wrong by breaking a legal publishing agreement"
In a statement released by Mr. Freeman on April 20th 2009, Mr. Freeman stated "The contractual deadline for the final manuscript of Anti-Liberalism & Political Theology has passed without the text having been delivered by Mr Kofmel, so by the terms of the contract the agreement to publish has lapsed. The editor and contributors have been informed and the title removed from our catalogue. It will take a little time for the information to filter through to all the online feeds (such as Amazon)."
It appears Mr. Freeman has used the opportunity of Mr. Kofmel's failure to meet deadlines to sever its links with Mr. Kofmel thus trying to limit the damage caused by its prior association with Erich Kofmel.
